EJ 270, Design: Erik Joergensen, 1970
The narrow armrests and relatively low height give Erik Joergensen’s EJ 270 a light, soft and casual appearance. The big voluminous cushions signal abundance, comfort and a feeling of hominess. One of the challenges that preoccupied Erik Joergensen in the late 1960s was how to redefine the design of sofas and turn the popular living room piece of furniture into an aesthetic visual experience with a high level of comfort. The result of Erik Joergensen’s contemplations was the box sofa EJ 270, which was introduced in 1970 and has since founded a school for how sofas are designed in Denmark.
